Apple might think that they’re on to something with the iPhone, but their recent patent filings show an approach toward the optical disc drive that goes again all convention and logic. Apparently, Apple is toying with the blasphemous idea of putting the optical disc drive right smack at the bottom of the MacBook. Perhaps Apple reasons that most people hardly access their optical disc drive frequently enough to warrant placing the drive along the edge of the computer, cementing the possibility of relocation. This reshuffle could result in a slimmer MacBook, but I seriously doubt that the market is ready for such a radical idea at the moment.
