Sweden establishes virtual embassy

Talk about stranger than fiction – Sweden is set to become the first country to set up an embassy in the Second Life game, offering an information portal on all things Sweden. Needless to say, you won’t be able to apply for visas as well as renew passports via the virtual building, but at least curious Second Life citizens would be able to look up anything and everything Swedish without leaving the game to access Google. Word has it that the Swedish Institute is also looking to buy a virtual island to house Swedish companies. What next – Google setting up an in-game search engine with virtual terrorists bombing embassies in Second Life?
