Broadcom’s BCM4325 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/FM transceiver is now available on a single silicon die thanks to the 65nm process that offers ever increasing functionality in a smaller package. The BCM4325 is future-proof at least for a while as it complies to Bluetooth 2.0 specifications with the ability to upgrade to version 2.1 in the future. I can already smell it coming – a myriad of everyday devices from PMPs to cellphones and perhaps even a DVD player that offers WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity in addition to an FM receiver in an impossibly small package. Guess battery technology will just have to keep up with the growing list of functions in a device.
