When Bluetooth technology was first introduced for cellphones, it clearly gave the infrared port a good kick in the derriere for its ease of use and speed. Now, FotoNation has released the MTP-IP (Media Transfer Protocol) for cellphones that offers a data transfer rate of up to 10 times faster when compared against Bluetooth technology. To quantify that, it takes a mere 0.3 seconds to transfer a 3 megapixel photo from one cellphone to another. MTP-IP is compatible with Windows XP and Vista, appearing on the desktop as an attached device.
