Chinese scientists have stumbled upon a way to control the flight of pigeons by planting microelectrodes into the bird’s brains. They have successfully forced the birds to fly pretty much where they want them to by mimicking the natural signals in a pigeon’s brains. This development is pretty disturbing, as terrorists who get hold of such a bionically-enhanced pigeon can reverse engineer the technology and use it to drop micro bombs precisely. I wonder if the experiments include forcing to pigeon to go beyond what it is physically capable of. Animal lovers are sure to cry outrage should that happen. Looks like the phrase ‘bird brain’ no longer means dumb any longer.
