How slim can you go? The answer – very. Look out for even slimmer cellphones from Samsung in the near future once they start manufacturing this prototype LCD that measures a mere 0.74mm thin on a mass scale. This is a vast improvement over the previous thinnest LCD in the world, also created by Samsung, which stood at 0.82mm thick. In comparison, all the Samsung Ultra Edition handsets that will be released this spring have LCDs that are more than double the thickness at 1.9mm. Those who hanker after these thin displays will have to wait for the next generation of Samsung handsets.
