Those who live in the Big Apple will be very familiar with the “Walk/Don’t Walk” signs that dot the city wherever you turn to. Artisan John Carter decided to take advantage of this cultural icon by using it as a backrest and seat for a chair, while the rest of the four feet are made from from reconfigured, customized steel street sign brackets. These signs actually work when plugged into any 115V AC outlet, while the bulbs inside can be replaced whenever they’ve given up the ghost. To make the seating experience more comfortable, each chair has been reglazed with a 1″ thick polished resin along with felt suspension. These handmade chairs will cost $3,700 a pop.
