Sony could be working on new PMP

Word on the street is Sony has begun to work on a Walkman player that does not only do audio but plays video as well. The device targets the iPod nano market, and is claimed to come in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities. It will have a thickness of just 0.26″ and boast a battery life that ranges between 8 to 10 hours for video playback. Of course, such figures can always be manipulated by tweaking the volume control and screen brightness. The screen size will also be larger than the nano’s tiny display, which is a good thing. Until Sony releases an official statement, just take this piece of news with a pinch of salt. Should such a portable media player actually materialize, do you think it will be able to challenge Apple’s dominance, or will it just carve out a niche for itself?
