Sony files patent for Segway-like device

Electronics giant Sony has recently filed a patent application that features a skateboard-like product that is steered by balance and powered by a motor. This board comes with a couple of large wheels that are individually powered by a separate electric motor on either side of a flat platform. Steering is done via shifting one’s weight in the same vein as a Segway. Each board features a quartet of pressure sensors located at the corners to detect where the user is leaning. Those who aren’t too comfortable with the idea of just two wheels can settle for the tricycle and quad version for greater stability. There is no word on when such a product will be released. Hopefully they would do better in this compared to the current gaming division debacle.
