There have been calls and complaints from upset Zune owners to Microsoft’s customer support center when they realized that the Zune’s screen cracks if it is left to charge for an extended period of time. Some people theorize that this happens because the lithium ion battery is placed just behind the Zune’s screen, hence the screen is unable to compensate for the battery’s expansion when it gets too hot. Microsoft has not yet issued an official statement and current warranties do not compensate for a cracked screen. Looks like both the iPod and the Zune have their own set of problems, but a cracked screen is definitely more serious than failing batteries.
