Robots are cold machines that help humanity before they gain enough intelligence to take over the world, but somehow the Biomimetic Soft-Bodied “Gummi Bots” are capable of melting even the hardest human heart thanks to their cuddly appearance. The Gummi Bots aren’t just there to look pretty, but boast a flexible, silicone rubber skin that works in tandem with the rubber segments during movement, very much like a caterpillar. Unfortunately, scientists have only managed to cause a ripple of movement as far as the robot’s length to date, hoping to reach a full blown caterpillar status before the year is over. Some practical uses of the Gummi Bot includes looking out for mines in the battlefield and crawling into hard to reach areas. Hopefully birds won’t mistake this as a worm and take a good peck at it before discovering it is inedible.
