Let us all give a big hand to Attorn BV on joining the Solid State Disk (SSD) market that has already seen releases from Sandisk, Samsung, Intel, and Super Talent. The HyperDrive4 (whatever happened to 1, 2, and 3?) offers vastly improved read and write times (1,100ns for read and 250ns for write) when compared to the regular hard drive’s 8ms seek time (that’s 8,000ns for you). Unfortunately, for all the speed it offers, there are a couple of speed bumps that will derail it from your shopping list – a capacity of just 1GB, and probably a prohibitively high price. Let’s hope time will see some positive changes in the storage and price departments for the better.
