Samsung Electronics has successfully developed an 8GB memory chip, making it the highest density embedded flash memory produced to date. This moviNAND memory solution is made up of a quartet of 50-nanometer, 16 Gigabit NAND flash memories, a hi-speed MMC controller, and associated firmware. What can you store on it? How does 2,000 songs or map data of the entire western world? Since it can be used in conjunction with removable media cards, you can safely say there is unlimited potential for expansion. The 8GB moviNAND will be mass produced in Q2 2007, so look out for larger capacity devices later this year.
