Intel has once again increased the distance between its chief rival AMD by releasing the fastest Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processor yet, the QX6800. Clocking in at a jaw-dropping 2.93GHz, these new processors will be produced using the 65nm process and retail for an exorbitant $1,199. The QX6800 is meant to help gamers prepare themselves for next generation PC games that will take full advantage of all the cores, featuring a 65% increase in video encoding when compared to an equivalent dual-core chip. All in all, this just means more work for programmers as they have to crack their heads on taking advantage of all those cores.
