New cam detects emissions

Developed countries all over the world are slowly but surely drawing up guidelines on cutting down greenhouse gas emissions and doing their best to keep to it, but somehow electric utility companies seem to have kept a dirty little secret up until now – Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6). The function of this gas is to insulate high voltage equipment, but one pound of it has the same impact on global warming as 11 tons of CO2. The GasFindIR-LW from FLIR Systems is capable to detecting even minute traces of SF6 in the air thanks to its specially developed infrared camera. In addition to SF6 detection, the GasFindIR-LW also detects 20 other environmentally harmful gasses. It’d be fun to use this in the office and catch those silent farter with evidence to boot.
