Robo-falcons to keep pigeons at bay

The city of Liverpool in England has been named the European Capital of Culture 2008, which explains the flurry of upgrading activity going on there. Unfortunately, the city council still has to contend with the nuinsance of common pigeon dung, and have pulled all stops to eliminate this menace once and for all by placing robot peregrine falcons in strategic locations across the city. Each of these robotic avians can move their head, flap its wings, and even squawk, but they won’t be able to swoop down on fat rats that scurry about the streets at night. Laugh if you must, but take note that the city council currently spends $320,000 annually to clean up pigeon poop from buildings and pavements.
