The Averatec 1579 laptop is definitely easy on the eyes (and shoulders), featuring a widescreen display that measures just 11″ wide as well as a thickness of 1″ and a featherlight weight of 3.4 pounds. Unfortunately, the 1579′s dimensions seem to reflect its performance with an Intel Core Duo U2400 1.06GHz processor running the show, along with RAM that maxes out at 1GB. Other specifications include a 120GB hard drive, a dual layer DVD burner, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, and a built-in 4-in-1 memory card reader. Surely you can get much more powerful laptops for the 1579′s $1,300 sticker price, but those definitely won’t be as portable as this. Each Averatec 1579 comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium.
