Motorola’s new iDEN phone i876 has recently been given the go-ahead by the FCC, and is set to be released in Q4 this year. What is most interesting about this cellphone would be its GPS features which most people would find limited. According to the manual, the Motorola i876 can be hooked up to a notebook or other compatible device via a serial data cable, enabling your handset to transmit and receive data. Your location information can be sent this way, but I guess with plenty of folks already having their own personal navigation device, this function will be largely overlooked as a gimmick.
