Over the years, there has been more than a single fire that started by a smoker who’s fallen asleep with a lighted cigarette in hand. Europe ought to see the last of this ‘unforseen disaster’ should the newly developed “fire-safe” cigarettes take off in a big way. These cancer sticks were designed in such a way that they automatically extinguish themselves a minute or two without being smoked. Sounds pretty dubious to me – after all, it takes less than a minute for an unattended cigarette to start a fire. In the first place, how does one fall asleep while smoking halfway?
