Having real-time GPS tracking sounds like a cool idea, but it will be hard on your pockets. The GPS Snitch is evidence for that claim, with the hardware along costing $400 while the monthly subscription fee costs up to $26 – all that on top of the $30 activation fee. For those out of the loop, the GPS Snitch is a GPS receiver that comes with its own GSM antenna and a SIM card. Once the device leaves a pre-determined virtual fence, you will be alerted via cellphone with a text message. The web interface also enables you to monitor the GPS Snitch in real time. The GPS Snitch’s battery lasts up to 7 days before requiring a recharge, or you can just leave it plugged into the car charger at all times.
