Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 a speed demon

Hitachi touts that their Travelstar 7K200 notebook hard drive is the fastest notebook drive with encryption technology in the world. Available in 200GB capacity, the Travelstar 7K200 spins at 7,200 rpm as opposed to the more popular but slower 5,400 rpm found in notebook drives. The 2.5″ form factor also makes it a viable alternative for notebooks to carry up to 400GB of space via RAID arrays. Despite spinning at a much faster rate, Hitachi claims the Travelstar 7K200 consumes just about the same power as current 5,400 rpm models while emitting the same levels of heat and noise. New Dell and Alienware notebooks will carry this new hard drive.
