The team at Sony Design have been working on the creative side of things, and this speaker made from a column of glass is one of the fruits of their labor. Known as Rin, the speaker is a column that rises vertically from a stone floor, tapered into a transparent pole where sound emerges in all directions. The base itself is made from Lombardy marble, a staple when it comes to creating acoustic spaces in churches over the centuries. No word on whether this design will ever be approved, but woe to the parents who bring this back to a home containing a couple of young kids. Can you say Crash, Boom, Bang?
