Toshiba has expanded the Gigabeat V series of portable media players by introducing the V801 and V401 which come with 80GB and 40GB hard drives respectively. A new color, Bordeaux Brown, has also been thrown into the fray, but let’s not get carried away by the cosmetic change and peer deeper into the hardware specifications. Features include a larger 4″ QVGA TFT display at an improved resolution of 480 x 272, an automatic brightness sensor to maximize battery life, and H2C technology that counters audio compression algorithms for superior sound quality. You can pick one up if you’re in Japan on June 1st at a yet undisclosed price.
