QSI Corporation has just unveiled the InfiniTouch technology that enables any semi-rigid material to have touchscreen capability, be it glass, plastic, metal, stone, or even wood as it reads both X- and Y-coordinates in addition to the Z-axis force. This is neat as there are plenty of environments which are not suitable for traditional touch panels such as tollbooths, outdoor kiosks, and public places where vandalism is rife. I can’t wait to see how buildings in the future are designed with this technology in mind – it certainly lends an air of sophistication and wonder to whoever uses it.
