No, turning yellow doesn’t mean Microsoft is chickening out of the home console race, but rather the introduction of limited edition Simpsons-themed Xbox 360 consoles that are available only through a series of promotions and special events. There will only be a hundred of these produced, so woe to you if your model experiences a red ring of death within a short time. According to Microsoft, this movie tie-in move aims to promote family values around the Xbox 360. I don’t think sick and sometimes juvenile humor is exactly the right kind of family values you’d want to promote, but whatever floats Microsoft’s boat. No idea on whether this Simpsons-themed console will be the Core, Premium, or Elite version.
