Intel to develop Eee PC with Asustek

Intel and Asustek have joined forces to work on a new laptop that targets developing countries, and this lovechild from their union will be known as the Eee PC. The Eee PC can be seen as a rival to the Classmate laptop (from Intel as well), but it hopes to cannibalize the sales of the One Laptop per Child foundation’s offering. The Eee PC is expected to retail for under $200, coming with a 7″ display, a flash-based hard drive, and WiFi connectivity – all packed into a package weighing no more than 0.89kg. I guess there is always some room for these laptops to make their way into the hands of people living in developing countries without the situation being seen as a “battle”.
