New Samsung mobile TV chip

Samsung has just unveiled its new high performance, multi-standard mobile TV chip that enables cellphone manufacturers to include TV reception on their handsets while disregarding the different countries and standards in play. Looks like this will help mobile TV take off, but how many of us actually have that much free time to watch TV anyway? If we did, there wouldn’t be a need for set top boxes that record hours upon hours of missed shows. All I see are more advertising dollars in the mobile TV market – but will the penetration justify the cost?
