Samsung has recently filed a patent for a cellphone antenna that functions as a USB charger as well. This is a pretty spiffy idea, since the cellphone’s antenna comes in the form of a male USB adapter, killing two birds with one stone. Great to know there is no need to carry around an additional power adapter just to juice up my phone when traveling, and with the easy availability of USB ports these days, charging is a cinch. Not sure if we’ll ever see this hit the mass consumer market or not, since proprietary interfaces make a whole lot more money for a company, and at the end of the day, companies and shareholders want to see a nice, fat profit.
