Sharp is the proud developer of the smallest digital TV tuner in the world, coming out with the VA3A5JZ912 tuner module. This tiny module is compatible with the Japanese 1-Seg terrestrial digital broadcast, measuring a diminutive 7.3mm x 6.3mm x 1.25mm. Its size is small enough to be integrated into head mounted displays in vehicles, making portable TV all the easier to incorporate into future devices. Mass production of the Sharp VA3A5JZ912 tuner module will commence this September, although pricing details have yet to be ironed out. Let’s leave that to the hardware manufacturers, shall we, while we concentrate on the type of devices that deserve this module.
