Fancy having a digital paper that responds verbally to a user’s touch? Researchers from Mid Sweden University have come up with exactly that, where the prototype display utilizes conductive inks which are sensitive to pressure as well as printed speakers that emit the appropriate verbal response. This looks more like anadvertising-intensive device than anything else, although it theoretically could enhance product packaging (while adding to the overall price of a particular product). I must say it comes pretty handy when used to market holiday destinations – imagine just placing your hand on a postcard depicting the beaches at Bali and hear the soothing waves rolling up ashore.
