Albatron has just unveiled a new Blue Ray Decoder card, and no, the word “Blue” isn’t a typo. In fact, this new video card decodes both high definition formats – HD DVD and Blu-ray. Even though the latter seems to be winning the so-called format war, having the ability to decode both is always a good thing. Essentially, this is a mid-range DirectX 10-compatible video card that frees up your computer’s processor to perform other tasks while it decodes high definition video. The Albatron Blue Ray Decoder card supports H.264, VC-1, and MPEG-2 video codecs and does a pretty decent job thanks to the 256MB of DDR3 memory. Looks like HTPC owners have yet another choice now when it comes to living room entertainment.
