Gesture recognizing watch

Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have come up with a working prototype that is smart enough to recognize gestures, thanks to an array of infrared sensors which are capable of detecting hand movements in close proximity to the watch. These gestures will then be interpreted by software in order to control a device remotely. Sound pretty cool, but it will probably bring about far more problems than solutions as consumers need to learn a new ‘language’ in order to operate their device. Embedded Bluetooth technology is used to send commands to external devices, and until it is capable of beating the simplicity and ease-of-use of standard playback buttons on an MP3, I doubt this will take off.
