HTC to bring UMPC Shangri-La

HTC is currently working on an UMPC that blurs the line between notebooks and cellphones. Dubbed the X9500 and going by the dreamy nickname of “Shangri-La”, this utopian effort more or less resembles the Shift notebook and phone hybrid, merging both operating systems and storage at once. Imagine Windows Mobile 6 stored on 128MB ROM while Vista is kept on a 40GB hard drive. You now have two choices when it comes to the dreaded Blue Screen of Death! Jokes aside, both sides of the X9500 will be able to have 3G access, Bluetooth connectivity, share a miniSD card slot, and GPS navigation. This is going to be one expensive device when it hits retail stores, and you’ll do well to wait for a second or third generation device to have all the bugs ironed out.
