
NTT DoCoMo is about to embark on an ambitious project that provides cellphone users the ability to achieve speeds of up to 300Mbps on their handsets by the time 2009 rolls around. This involves advanced versions of HSDPA and HSUPA combining with up to a quartet of MIMO antennas to achieve such speeds. Dubbed the Super G network, I guess cellphones during that time will now be able to stream video effectively without pesky bouts of interruption in between. If this isn’t even 4G speeds, I seriously wonder what the implications of 4G are in our everyday lives – will cellphones come with built-in projectors by then to stream video calls seamlessly at 60fps in full HD? One can only wish…
