NYPD to have eyes trained on you

The New York Police Department is currently working on setting up a web of surveillance in the lower Manhattan area, eventually culminating in 3,000 public and private security cameras to track terrorists. Even before the year is over, there will be 116 license plate readers in place to monitor cars traveling through the area. I don’t know how comfortable you’ll sit with this idea, but having someone monitor your every movement is kind of unnerving. All in the name of everyone’s greater good I suppose. It seems that footage will be kept for only a month before it is discarded and recorded over. That makes perfect sense since it would take one huge backup solution to keep video recording of 3,000 cameras day in, day out.
