Police recruit via Second Life

So the cops in Vancouver are looking for more tech savvy applicants, and have taken their recruitment drive online by appearing in Second Life. These applicants can be from different continents, as recruits won’t serve in the real world but police the virtual world of Second Life instead. While crime in Second Life is definitely at a much lower rate than that in real life, but isn’t this taking things a bit too far? Those folks could just go to some self-improvement courses instead of loafing around online, waiting for a virtual snatch theft to happen. How much longer do you think the Second Life boom will last? Or will it be something like Starcraft in Korea, never dying out despite being released in the last century?
