Samsung turns phone into joystick

…or at least that’s what Samsung attempts to according to this patent applied by the giant Korean electronics manufacturer. A fairly standard clamshell handset will be turned into a joystick on-the-fly, although I do have an inkling that this won’t be too ergonomic in anybody’s books. It will be more akin to grabbing a regular candybar handset vertically, and as most joystick enthusiasts will tell you, it is all important to get the trigger button as well as hat buttons in the right position for a more realistic gaming experience. And what game exactly will use this method of control? Perhaps when you hook the said handset to a TV via TV out.
