Mention the words “iPod dock” and you’ll probably conjure up a mental picture that involves a rectangular device resting on a table horizontally, with an iPod connector in the middle which is flanked by a pair of speakers. The Shanling MC-30 Music Center changes that though, featuring a brushed aluminum squat chassis with attractive blue LED highlights to spruce things up aesthetically. The caps located on its two forward supports actually double up as the input selector and volume control, while additional features include the mentioned iPod support, a HiFi CD player, an integrated AM/FM tuner, and a tube power amplifier. At $1,000 each, the Shanling MC-30 Music Center certainly isn’t cheap but how many other people do you know own one of these in their homes?
