The Sonic Chair is one piece of home furniture that will definitely sit down well (no pun intended) with audiophiles. This pod-like seat was designed in such a manner to isolate its occupant in a personal sound space, minimizing any aural spillover into the surrounding. The chair’s speakers have been built into the bowl, giving the person sitting inside a concentrated dose of bass and acoustics without disturbing the peace around. Line-level inputs are used to hook up to other audio sources. It can be further customized by throwing in a touchscreen controller or an iPod dock in lieu of the swiveling drink tray. Be prepared to dig deep though, as the Sonic Chair retails for approximately $8,000.
