Body heat to power cellphones

Apparently sometime down the road in the future, body heat could be used to provide additional power to your cellphone – definitely beats looking for a power outlet when you need to connect that call desperately. Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Germany have successfully developed new circuits that could potentially harness electricity from body heat that normally goes wasted, dissipating into thin air. Could this be the advent of battery-less cellphones? I don’t think so – not just yet, anyway, as you definitely won’t be able to generate that much electricity. Placing the handset below your laptop would fare much better in theory since we all know just how hot laptops get ;)
