This silver box is the EyeTV 250, a USB TV box that converts over-the-air HDTV (or NTSC) signals to into MPEG-2 (compressed) video, thanks to its integrated hardware compressor. Compression does bring a loss of quality, especially of fast-moving sequences, but it is a necessary evil to preserve space on your hard drive. To be fair, the image quality is usually OK. I would have preferred them to include the H.264 (MPEG4) compression instead, but I guess that it’s just too expensive for this product line.
The antenna is not included. This product requires Mac OS 10.4 or better.
