Sharp experimental LCD is super thin

Sharp of Japan has recently paraded its extremely thin experimental LCD display that could potentially be used as a TV someday down the road. Measuring 52″ wide with a thickness of just 2cm, this specification definitely beats those found on current 52″ LCD displays that are approximately 500% thicker. Not only that, home theater buffs will be pleased to know that this new LCD display has a contrast ratio of 100,000 to 1, consuming a mere 140kWh a year in total. Hopefully Sharp hurries up and brings this technology to the masses in order to push HD across living rooms throughout the world.
