China surpasses 600 million cellphone mark

Now that’s an impressive figure – it shows that nearly half the 1.3 billion population owns a handset each. You know which market to cater to if you’re planning on selling cellphone accessories – after all, with such a huge market, capturing just 10% of it would make you rich enough to swim in a pool filled to the brim with dollar bills. Looks like the sleeping dragon has aroused from its slumber, and has plenty of talking to do. Official figures point out that the nation’s cellphone users increased by a whopping 40.56 million from the end of 2006, translating to an average of 6.76 million each month up to June this year.
