Dell to go carbon neutral by 2008

Will Dell be following the footsteps of Volvo by going carbon neutral before 2008 is over? Dell aims to be the first in the industry to become carbon neutral by then, and have already started this initiative by replacing light bulbs with more efficient designs as well as switching off equipment that are not being used at night, resulting in savings of $1.8 million where power bills are concerned over the past year. Dell has also expanded its “Plant a Tree for Me” program that allows customers to choose to have $2 or $6 of a laptop or desktop purchase to go toward funds that plants trees all over the world. Well, I’m all for going green, so it is good to see Dell take up the initiative. Hopefully other computer manufacturers will follow suit as well.
