Pioneer goes universal with DV-800AV

Pioneer tells the world that there is still life yet in the standard DVD format, releasing the DV-800AV universal DVD player that features 1080p upscaling via HDMI and compatibility with DivX, XviD, and SACD (Super Audio CD) formats. Unfortunately, the €430 price tag is rather on the high side – you could get a perfectly working HD DVD or Blu-ray player at that price point, which makes me wonder why would you then pick this up?
