Pure white LEDs see advancements

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science have laid claim to the advancements made in the realm of white LEDs, claiming that they’re getting ever closer to the “Holy Grail of the illumination industry.” Since white LEDs produce pure white light that works great for everyday use, it would be ideal to have these installed in your home over the “warm white” LEDs used in pricey bulbs. The main advancement involves the development of a “new phosphor from semiconductor nanocrystals of cadmium sulfide mixed with manganese” that will produce a stable and constant shade of white light which is in all manner superior to what is currently available. Until they perfect it, they’ll remain cooped up within their laboratories.
