There is a new service in town that eavesdrops on Internet calls, displaying advertisements based on whatever the conversation is about on the screen of your computer. Imagine talking to your friend about the latest cellphone, only to see an Apple iPhone ad appear your computer screen. While this sounds pretty easy, it is actually much more complex since speech recognition in computers isn’t exactly the easiest of tasks. So far, Puddingmedia’s beta software yielded mixed results featuring both relevant and irrelevant ads simultaneously. You can check out the website here, and visitors will be able to make free calls to US and Canadian phone numbers. Actual speech recognition will be performed at Puddingmedia’s servers in California, so your computer won’t be bogged down by additional processes during a conversation.
