Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger has just signed a new bill that is now a law. This new law makes it illegal for anyone aged 16 to 17 to use a cellphone, pager, laptop, or handheld computer while driving a vehicle. The long arm of the law will only be effective when July 1 2008 rolls around, where first time offenders will be slapped with a $20 fine while repeat offenders will have to fork out $50. Hopefully this law will help reduce additional distractions when driving, and directly increasing their attention to the road. According to Arnie, “We want to eliminate any extra distractions so they can focus on paying attention to the road and being good drivers. We just don’t want to say ‘Hasta la vista, baby’ to young drivers anymore.”
