WiMAX hits UMPCs and MIDs next year

The much talked about WiMAX standard has received a positive boost with news that it will inhabit laptops from next year onwards courtesy of mini card and half mini card form factors. These mini cards measure no larger than current ones with WiFi functionality. The new WiMAX chip released next year will be of the same size as current WiFi ones, hence making it possible to include both the WiMAX and WiFi mini card in just about any new laptop released next year. For those who prefer computing on the smaller UMPC platform, there is always the half mini card form factor. What about us who use our N95s and BlackBerries? Is there such a thing as a quarter mini card?
