
We were hoping to get these Eee PCs for cheap, but Asus’s sales president Jonathan Tsang broke the news that the $199 is for “contract purchases”, which means a big order. The company doesn’t seem to have built up large inventories for this product – probably to tread the waters first. The Eee PC should hit the Taiwanese market on Oct 16, in somewhat limited quantities and make it to the U.S market by the end of the month, although it has been delayed before.
